Hull and robotics inspection models

For task 1.2.3, GLAFCOS partner has highlighted the critical importance of inspecting a ship’s hull condition and maintaining clean cargo holds. We discussed the detrimental effects of biofouling on vessel performance, efficiency, and environmental impact, emphasizing the need for thorough assessments and prompt action. Furthermore, we stressed the significance of clean cargo holds in preventing cargo damage, complying with regulations, and ensuring the integrity of transported goods. To address these challenges effectively, we proposed the utilization of advanced inspection models incorporating robotic platforms. By integrating AI algorithms, sensors, and recognition techniques, these models enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety in evaluating hull conditions, detecting biofouling, and ensuring cleanliness in cargo holds. The implementation of these innovative solutions promotes proactive maintenance, timely intervention, and the advancement of sustainable practices in the maritime industry.
