Introduction of partner, why do they participate and why is DT4GS important for BAL.

Baleària is the leading shipping group in Spain with almost 25 years of history in the maritime transport of passengers, vehicles, and goods, with routes which link Mainland with Balearic Islands, Canary Island, Ceuta and Melilla on a daily basis. It is also the only maritime company that connects the four islands in the Balearic archipelago. Internationally, it operates in North Africa (Morocco and Algeria), the south of France and links the US and the Bahamas.

Baleària is a global benchmark in sustainability thanks to its pioneering commitment to eco-efficient mobility driven by cleaner and more eco-friendly energy sources, such as natural gas, allowing us to progress towards decarbonization. Currently, Baleària ha some thirty ships, nine of which form part of a fleet equipped to sail using natural gas, exemplifying the company’s energy transition.

Sustainable and smart mobility at sea is the driving force behind Baleària, a company inspired by innovation and care for the environment and involved in the development and well-being o people. For this reason, Baleària decided to participate in a project which its committed with the environment, as by creating digital twins it wants to explore the possibilities of optimizing and improving the operability of its ships, reducing emissions of GHG into the atmosphere, and helping in our path to decarbonization.

Thanks to its participation in this project, Baleària will contribute to the definition, design and validation of models for operational optimization of RO-PAX vessels.

DT4GS has received funding from the Horizon Europe framework programme under Grant Agreement No 101056799.
